UNICEF, established in 1946, is a UN agency dedicated to helping children worldwide with the principle of "assistance without discrimination." It is the only organization directly mentioned in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965. UNICEF works in almost 190 countries, providing emergency relief and supporting children's health, nutrition, education, and sanitation. UNICEF Korea Committee, representing UNICEF in Korea, raises funds and advocates for children's rights. Korea is the only country in UNICEF's history to transition from receiving aid to providing it, joining the top five fundraising nations in 2020. One of its key initiatives is the "Creating a Child-Friendly Society" project, aimed at making communities and institutions more child-friendly to ensure a happy childhood for all children.
