TARA is a non-profit, all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless pets in the Greater Kansas City area. The organization is the result of an alliance between several rescuers in the Kansas City region who share the same goal of ending animal suffering and homelessness. Although they are foster home based, they also lease several kennels at a local boarding facility. TARA is often the last chance an animal has at life, as they bring pets out of shelters where they are facing imminent euthanization. Many of the pets they rescue come from difficult situations and have medical issues that need to be addressed. They encounter many cases of heartworm disease, skin problems, allergies, parasites, etc. TARA believes those minor conditions are no reason to euthanize friendly and deserving animals and therefore spare no efforts to treat and rehabilitate them.
