WTW Philadelphia

I'm Walking the World with Informa and my local office. We're raising funds for Bread & Roses community fund. Help support your local community action fund!

Each year, Walk the World encourages colleagues in all locations to spend time together outside the office, to have fun and to raise money for local charities.

This year, we are raising money for Bread & Roses Community Fund.

Bread & Roses Community Fund is the leading funder of grassroots organizing for racial, social, and economic justice in the Philadelphia area. They bring together a community of donors, community organizers, and other allies of movements for change around a shared goal of radically transforming individuals and society. Every year Bread & Roses raises from the community every dollar that they give out, and the community decides where those grants go.

Some of the organizations the fund goes toward includes: Urban Creators, William Way LBGTQIA Community Center, The Human Rights Coalition, Amistad Law Project, The Philadelphia Community Bail Fund, ACT UP Philadelphia, Juntos, and more.

My Updates

COVID-19 Solidarity Fund

The COVID-19 pandemic creates an unprecedented need for grassroots community organizing in the Philadelphia region at the same time that it creates incredible challenges to doing that work.

The pandemic and its economic fallout are landing hardest on those communities already targeted by systems of oppression: people of color, poor people, immigrants, people with disabilities, incarcerated people, people experiencing homelessness, and other marginalized communities.

So far, Bread & Roses has distributed $605,500 in grants through the Solidarity Fund.

Article: Why we need community organizers in the time of COVID-19

Excellent article from WHYY on community organizing, featuring Bread & Roses: "working from our couches and kitchen tables, our team got to work. Every year, we raise every dollar that we give out in grants. So to respond to this moment, we immediately began raising money to launch our new Solidarity Fund for COVID-19 Organizing."
