Walk description

The chosen walk will be along the picturesque Wirral Way from Thurstaston to Hooton Station. The path heads along the beautiful Wirral coastline passing Heswall and Parkgate. Our total walk is 10 miles, however don’t worry, there are smaller distances that you can sign up to for those who want to participate but don’t want to walk the full 10 miles. These are 3 miles to Hadlow Station from Hooton and then back to Hooton. Hadlow Station is a Victorian railway that has been kept in its original style to this day, a real treasure to see and you can still see many of the old railway features. There is also just under 6 miles from Parkgate to Hooton Station. The pretty coastal village of Parkgate is famous for its marshes and home-made ice cream. From the attractive coastal parade there are views across the marshland of the Dee and huge variety of birdlife to look out for. Along the route you will see lush green areas and a vast array of wildlife.  Remember the aim of the day is to get as many of us out and enjoying the exercise, fresh air and camaraderie as possible, it really doesn’t matter which distance you choose, it will be fantastic to have everyone participate!
