North Beach Adventure
Following last year’s walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, we’ll continue our theme of exploring the treasures of the Bay Area – this time focusing on San Francisco’s celebrated Telegraph Hill/North Beach neighborhoods.
Starting out from our own office at Mission and 2nd, we’ll head towards the famed Coit Tower with its unparalleled views of the city and 1930’s era WPA murals and wind our way eventually to Washington Square Park. On our way down to the park, we’ll seek out the Parrots of Telegraph Hill and the Filbert Steps (all 400 of them), which wind through some of the City’s most spectacular (and heavily sloped) backyard gardens. Tickets to access the top of Coit Tower will be provided.
The walk is estimated at approximately 3.5 miles round trip to/from the office, not accounting for the vertical climb to (and up) Coit Tower. Those less comfortable with the uphill portion can coordinate to meet us mid-way at the tower itself.
After ascending and descending Telegraph Hill, we’ll be due for a breather, and will be stopping to enjoy some food and drink in Washington Square park before the final stretch back to the office. Look for specifics on the venue to be posted soon!
Continuing the relationship begun with last year’s WTW, all funds raised by the San Francisco office will go to the Bay Area’s Hamilton Families, which established San Francisco’s first shelter for families experiencing homelessness in 1985.
Hamilton Families provides a range of critical services for homeless families in San Francisco and Oakland, including shelter programs and transitional housing as well as therapeutic and enrichment activities for impacted children. Visit their web site to learn more about their programs and available volunteer activities. Note donations should be collected via the Walk the World’s Crowd Rise site.
Use the button bellow to donate, or why not set up your own fundraising page and ask friends and family to support you? You may also raise money through activities at home or within the office and add it to your fundraising page. In addition, Informa will be making donations to local charities, click here to learn how to gain more for your charity.
We encourage our colleagues to donate $15 to the office charity when registering for the walk.
