Dual: Walk and Volunteer on the same day.
Walk The World 2018 (Walk): Chicago-based colleagues will walk 15.6 miles (7.8 miles each way) to/from our Informa Chicago office and The Greater Chicago Food Depository. We will begin our walk and leave our office at 10:30 a.m. as we anticipate the walk to be slightly over two hours each way. Upon arrival we will, as a group, volunteer by repacking donated food for distribution. Upon conclusion of our volunteer session at 3:45 p.m. we will begin the return walk route back to the office.
Walk The World 2018 Walk finish time will be 5:00 p.m.;
Walk The World 2018 Volunteering finish time will be at 3:45 p.m.
Informa’s Chicago Office and a few home-based colleagues will get together for WALK THE WORLD 2018 in support of The Greater Chicago Food Depository to help fight hunger in our communities. We will combine our efforts by walking and volunteering on the same day.
We will start our day with a hearty breakfast at 9:00 a.m. in the office to prepare for our walk and volunteering.
For our walk, we will walk a total of 15.6 miles (7.8 miles each way) to/from our office and The Greater Chicago Food Depository. We will begin our walk and leave our office at 10:30 a.m. as we anticipate the walk to be slightly over two hours each way (weather permitting). Upon ending our volunteer session at 3:45 p.m. we will begin the return walk route back to the office.
For our volunteering efforts, we will volunteer as a group for a Repack Session where we will repack donated food and other products to prepare them for distribution to the many agencies and communities in need. Our volunteer session will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Repack volunteers are not required to do heavy lifting, but should be prepared to stand for 90 minutes at a time with some light lifting and bending.
We will also host a food drive (canned goods only) from now until our WTW date. All items collected will be delivered on our walk/volunteer day.
Our walk will take us through many communities from Downtown to the near west side. Click on the links below to view the routes for our walk.

Greater Chicago Food Depository
The Greater Chicago Food Depository is Chicago’s food bank. We provide food for hungry people while striving to end hunger in our community.
We do this in partnership with 700 agencies and programs including pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and responses for children, older adults and veterans. This network distributes food where it is needed most throughout Cook County.
Since 1979, the Food Depository has made a daily impact on hunger across Cook County. Last year, the Food Depository distributed nearly 72 million pounds of food, 37% of which was fresh produce. Every day we distribute the equivalent of 164,000 meals.
Use the button bellow to donate, or why not set up your own fundraising page and ask friends and family to support you? You may also raise money through activities at home or within the office and add it to your fundraising page. In addition, Informa will be making donations to local charities, click here to learn how to gain more for your charity. We encourage our colleagues to donate $15 to the office charity when registering for the walk.
